Lock your computer with usb flash drive

Security of laptops and notebooks have been evolving with new technologies like fingerprint readers, eye scanners, face recognition etc but what about the personal computers?

Using this trick you will be able to lock your computer with a Usb. The computer will work only when the Usb is plugged in. Once the Usb is removed keyboard and mouse will automatically get disabled and your screen will get dark. Moreover your computer will get automatically locked. To unlock the computer you will need to insert the Usb again.

How To Request A New IP Address From Your ISP

- What is the most efficient way to generate a new external IP address from my ISP? -

I get variations on this question often. I'll tell you what to try:

1. Click Start
2. Click run
3. In the run box type cmd.exe and click OK
4. When the command prompt opens type the following: *Press 'enter' after each new line.

ipconfig /flushdns
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
exit

5. Erase your cookies in whatever browser you are using.

Frequently you will be assigned a new IP address when this happens. Sometime you will, sometimes you will not. If you are on a fixed IP address, this method will not work. If this works for you, you may want to save the above commands into a batch file, and just run it when you need it.

A simple Trick To lock Your Computer

Very useful when you have to leave your system on for some time and you have to go some where else...

Right click on an empty area of the desktop and choose 'new' then 'shortcut.' The create shortcut wizard will open.



In the first text box, type '%windir%\\System32\\rundll32.exe user32.dll,LockWorkStation' and then give your shortcut an appropriate name on the next page, and hit 'finish.'





You will notice that the shortcut you created has a blank icon. To select a more appropriate one, right click on the shortcut and hit 'properties.' In the 'shortcut' tab, click the 'change icon' button.



Else u can simply press the \"window key + l\" to lock your computer.


You can also use the following keyboard shortcuts with a Microsoft Natural Keyboard or any other compatible keyboard that includes the Windows logo key and the Application key.

Avast Antivirus Lisence key..

Review:
Avast made great strides in its previous update. Version 5 set the stage for the modern, massively popular, and free security suite with a new interface that ditched a quirky, late-'90s jukebox style for a more polished look. Easier to navigate, it also became easier to add new features.

Make no mistake; Avast 6 adds features both big and small. Some that had previously only been available to paid upgrade users are now free for all versions, and newer features have been seamlessly added to the interface experience. If you're familiar with Avast 5, upgrading to Avast 6 won't be that big of a leap.

Avast wants you to play in its sandbox

Some items of note during the installation that will come up later in the review: to completely avoid the new Windows 7 and Vista desktop gadget, or the new WebRep browser add-on, you must choose the Custom install option and uncheck those here.

Automatic installation of these features is frowned upon, although Avast does provide a clear method for uninstalling them. It's just not as simple as a check box that gets its own installation window, since you have to go through the Customize menu, which makes the auto-install sort of surreptitious.

On the plus side, installing Avast doesn't require a reboot, and using its uninstall tool we detected no remnants in the Registry or on the desktop. Avast has said that the installer has shrunk for all three versions by about 20 percent, although it's still a large download at around 57MB for the free version.

Interface
Avast 6's interface is virtually identical to the previous version's. Perhaps the most major change, aside from a slight lightening of the gray in the color scheme, is the removal of the Windows Explorer-style forward and backward buttons. We actually liked those, since they made it easy to return to a previous pane, no matter how deeply into the settings you had explored.

The only other change is the addition of the Additional Protection tab to the left nav area, which hosts the new AutoSandbox and WebRep feature controls.

For users new to Avast, the sleek user interface is a change that came at the end of 2009. The gray-and-orange color scheme stands out well on the screen, and the tab-based navigation on the left makes it easy to navigate between features. Highlighted with the familiar security colors of green for safe and red for dangerous, the Summary tab gives up-to-date info on shield status, auto-updates, virus definitions, the program version, and whether the silent/gaming mode is on. There's also an unobtrusive ad urging you to upgrade to Avast Internet Security 6.

The Summary tab contains a second submenu, Statistics. If you're curious to see how Avast's shields have been performing against threats, here's where you can get your math geek on. For each shield, it tells you how many files were scanned and when, and presents the data in a concise graph.

Conclusion
When it comes to your security, Avast Free Antivirus 6 gets a lot right. It's got a usable, uncluttered interface, solid although not stellar benchmarks, and a set of features that keeps it at the forefront of Windows security. Using the Internet safely is no longer just about not getting phished and downloading only known-safe files, and the improvements in Avast 6 address modern security risks comprehensively.

Although we'd like to see stronger efficacy benchmarks in the future, Avast's impact on system performance is light in the most important categories of startup, shutdown, and scan speed. Avast remains one of the best free security options around and is well worth downloading.

If you worry about the battery draining quickly after jailbreaking your device, you’ll be happy to know that very few apps actually do this to your device, while the rest usually drain no more than 5-10% (based on user’s experiences). If you think about it, you really have nothing to lose.

I’m Convinced. So How Do I Jailbreak My Device?

The easiest way to jailbreak an iPod Touch is to use a software program. Depending on the firmware version of your iPod Touch, you may have to use tethered or untethered jailbreak methods to jailbreak your device.

Note: Tethered jailbreak means you have to connect the device to a computer and jailbreak it manually every time you switch it on after switching it off or if it turns off due to the battery being drained completely. Untethered jailbreak means you only have to plug it into your computer once, jailbreak the device and afterwards you use it as per normal use, without having to plug it in and jailbreak again if it switches off.

If you have installed the firmware 4.3.3 for your iPod Touch through iTunes, you can jailbreak your device using the untethered method using RedsnOw (a software program). Here are the steps:

1)      Download and update the firmware of your device to 4.3.3 using iTunes.

2)      Download and install RedsnOw. Start the program and point it to the location of the firmware update (iOS 4.3.3) file on your computer.

3)      Now select “Install Cydia” then click on “Next”.

4)      Now make sure your device is switched off and plugged in to the computer. Only then click on “Next”. Do listen to this piece of instruction for the sake of your device.

5)      You will now see a screen stating how to enter DFU mode on your device. The instructions are given clearly in the correct order on the screen. Follow them.

6)      Now let the software work its magic and when it’s done, your device will restart automatically. You now have a jailbroken device!

Besides RedsnOw, there are numerous other software programs available to help you jailbreak your device. However, you have to be wary as there are many fake software out there as well. There are many developers claiming to let you download RedsnOw for example, but in the end ruin your device instead. That’s why it’s always best to get yourself a software program that is guaranteed to work and has step by step instructions such as the above to help you.

Creating windows Live CD

About a year ago I set out to create me a Windows 7 live CD. Finally, I am able to present you with the How-To. But before we get into that, let’s review what a LIVE CD is.

A Live CD is an actual Windows Installation that you carry with you on a USB Flash Drive or CD/DVD. The Windows Installation is portable, meaning that you can have your own windows running on any PC you encounter. The Live CDs are most commonly used to repair computers that have crashed or to rescue data from a hard drive before doing a fresh installation. The great thing about a Live CD is that it does not alter anything on the computer you use (almost like a sandbox). You boot the computer as if it is your own (from the CD/DVD or USB). You can pre-install all the software you like, making it available no matter where you are. Sort of a Laptop, but without the hardware.

In the Linux World it has been around for years ( and as Windows XP). But Windows 7, well it’s been a longer road. You have of course been able to download illegal Windows Live Copies on the net for a while – but now at last I am able to show you have to create your own legal copy (for your personal use), provided you own a Windows Setup Disk and license.

Enough chit chat, let’s get on with it…

The overview

In order to create a Live CD from Windows 7, we need to download a utility called WinBuilder(download link at the end of this article). We also need a whole bunch of scripts to program our Live CD. Luckily there are hundreds of ready scripts available for us to download, so you don’t have to be a geek to get it working.  I have a set of working scripts available to you, but first, let’s look for those custom ones. Go ahead and download the WinBuilder application.

NOTE!
Do NOT place Winbuilder on your Desktop or other “User Related” folders.

1. Upon first launch, WinBuilder will open the Download Script Page, which allows you to browse through lots of available projects. The first thing we do is updating the servers list and choose the “winPE 7″ project. This is a beginners project, with most common scripts you need to get started. More scripts and functions may be added later on.
   
2. Choose “Complete Set” from the dialogue, and click Download.
3. Once a project has been downloaded, close the Download page or reboot WinBuilder (you can always go back and download other scripts and add ons by clicking on the Download Button in the main window). Should you come across a script you would like to use, it can also be added manually by copying it into the WebBuilder Project folder.
4. If you are a curious geek, who like to tweak everything, go ahead and look through the downloaded scripts, tweak everything from windows theme, wallpaper, sounds etc.

Running the scripts

1. Once a project has been chosen and tweaked, you need your Windows Setup Disk, as the scripts will copy everything they need from it.
2. Click The Source Button, and choose the path for the Setup Disk.
   
3. Next, Expand the Finalize Folder in the script overview window and choose the apropriate settings (Create ISO, copy to USB-drive etc.).
4. Then, click the PLAY button and wait while WinBuilder does the rest.
   
   
   Once Winbuilder is done you will find a folder in the Script folder called ISO which contain the finished Windows Live CD.
   
   Then burn it to a DVD or a Flash Drive, and you should be good to go.

NOTE!
If you are tweaking the script files, you will sometimes get unforeseen errors. Should you experience this, post a question in the WinBuilder Forums.
